Still in NICU...One week old

Truper is still in the NICU, but all the nurses have said that he doesn't look like a baby that needs to be there. He is off everything, but his oxygen. We are still waiting to hear from the doctor to see if he will let him come home with oxygen because he is borderline on the amount that is required of oxygen. Room air is 21%, he is about 28%-30% with oxygen. SO CLOSE!!!! If the doctor does let him come home with oxygen he will have a monitor as well as a home health person will come and check on him periodically. I am alittle torn, because eventhough I want him home and beable to have some type of normalcy, I don't want to push it and have him have to go back. We will just have to see what the doctors think.

Other then that, we are making it. The kids seem to be taking everything in stride. They are doing great. I try to make sure that they are getting some attention from me and to let them know that I love them. I will update with any new news......Hopefully it will be that Truper is coming home.

Update Monday Febuary 16th

His jaundice has improved and he is off his biliblanket. He is still recieving breathing treatments, which seem to be improving the cracking in his lungs. He is requiring less and less oxygen everyday, but still on constantly. When he can get off oxygen for 24 hours and his feedings get better and better we can bring him home. We hope it can be this week sometime, but we know that this is the best place for him until he can come home healthy and happy and the chances of getting readmitted is slim. These pictures were taken on Saturday. Sorry that I have deprived everyone. These pictures don't do justice to how much better he looks today.

I just want to give a quick update on our life that hase been the last few days. I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on Febuary 12th. Everything was prefect from the epirdural to the delivery. Unfornutely sometime when he came into this cruel world he aspireted and took in a whole bunch of fluid plus the oxygen. This resulted with fluid in his lungs, thus resulted in immediate attention. They took him to NICU to be check out and he has been there ever since. They immediately sucked out the fluid and worked on him for a few hours before we had any idea what was going on and what to expect. He was on oxygen his first night and then the next morning completely breathing on his own. Finally they let me hold him and try to feed him. Somehow all the stimulation resulted in him needing oxygen again and he has been on ever since. That was Friday. He is very strong and really trying to fight the infection. I was released from the hospital yesterday (Saturday) and have been going back as much as possible to love him and feed him. He is still on oxygen, but they continue to try to wing him off of it. The progress this morning was that his oxyen intake levels are looking better everyday, but he has slight pneumonia and has been started on breathing treatments. We are trying to stay positive, because we know it could be worst then what it is. We were hoping that his NICU stay would only result in a couple days, but then they keep telling us a couple more days. Even though life is extremely crazy with traveling to the hospital, we know this is the best place for him to be. He is getting the immediate care that will make him a "Well-Baby" instead of a sick-baby. We just wanted to let everyone know that we haven't dropped off the face of the earth, that we are still here. We are hoping this week we can bring him home well and healthy.

Sorry we don't have any pictures to post.....I can't seem to locate the camera, and the other sad thing is that I really haven't taken more then a couple pictures of him, because I haven't really had him.
